About Dungog Shire

Dungog Shire is the Southern gateway to the Barrington Tops National Park. Situated along the Williams, Allyn and Paterson rivers in the North East of the Hunter Valley region, Dungog is only a short drive off the Pacific or New England highways approximately 2.5 hours from Sydney and just an hour from Newcsatle and Port Stephens.


Dungog Shire covers an area of 2248 square kilometers which takes in major population centres such as Dungog, Gresford, Paterson, Vacy, Martins Creek and Clarence Town.


Dungog Shire displays ecotourism at its best with a wide range of facilities offering everything from rain forests to relaxing rural experiences.
